Just a quick little post as I’m catching my breath from the Season Six Finale.
(exhale loudly)
I can’t believe it’s already the end of Season Six… and that means we need to wait all the way until the fall to discover who was killed tonight!

It is usually in that moment when you feel the most confident that bad things happen.
I don’t know why this is, but extreme certainty has a way of blinding me. My mother used to remind me of this by saying, “Pride comes before a fall.” As a little kid, I never really knew what that meant exactly, but as an adult I understand it perfectly.

Have you ever made the same mistake twice?
Let’s face it, we all make mistakes – there is no shame in that. But when we make the same mistake more than once, we experience a whole different level of embarrassment. There is nothing worse than knowing that the bad situation that we got ourselves into is one that we could have avoided if we had just learned from our own mistakes. As the old saying goes, “Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me.”

Have you ever feared the person you’ve become? Have you ever looked in the mirror and realized that you are not the person that you want to be?
Not everyone experiences this, but probably more people than want to admit have been there.

Is it ever justified to kill someone?
What if it is in self-defense? What if the people I kill are going to murder me or my loved ones? Does “Thou shalt not kill” include war? (Should U.S. Marines use Nerf Blasters?)
Is killing ever not morally or legally wrong?
These are not just questions explored in an ethics class or in Sunday school. These are questions that virtually every civilization and religion have dealt with for millennia. And there is an entire range of answers, perspectives, and further questions. These questions arise in tonight’s episode of The Walking Dead and meet with various responses and reactions.

If you are a Christian and you are reading this column, chance are you have been asked this question: “How can you possibly watch a show about zombies?”
The question usually comes from someone who has never even watched the show, or for that matter, watched any television show or movie with zombies in them. If you’re young, maybe you have even been asked this by your parents or your youth pastor.
My wife used to be one of those who asked this question.
I have many responses to the question, but my favorite response is usually,
Deanna’s dying words to Michonne were, “What do you want?”
Who would have guessed the answer to that question was… Rick?
Season Six, Episode 10 was quite a switch from prior episodes. A couple months have passed, walls have been rebuilt, Carl’s injury has healed, and people are back to their routine.
