Milli Vanilli look out!
Yes- it's the age-old lip sync contest! We promoted the event like a talent show, inviting students to come prepared to lip sync and act out a song. Careful screening was necessary (and announced on the flyer) to keep music appropriate. After each group had performed their lip sync, our panel of judges selected the top 5 acts, then spun the wheel to select a song they had to perform on the spot. Fun times!
For prizes, we recycled old trophies from a thrift store. Between rounds of performances I gave a short talk centered around who students choose as role models (who we choose to imitate, like lip sync).
