Outdoor or indoor. For this game, you’ll need 2 five gallon buckets and 2 jousting sticks (4 ft. sticks with foam rubber ends) or two pillows and a soft area to play (grass area or padded floor).
Rules:
-
- Place buckets up-side-down, about 3 feet apart.
- 2 players stand on buckets, each with a joust stick or pillow.
When the judge says “Go!”, each player tries to knock the other player off his bucket.
Discourage “head shots” and other “cheap shots.”
Note from Jonathan: This game is great for either a quick 5 minute game between a few players, or for a much longer set with a bunch of competitors. I used to bring out the buckets and sticks at my junior high events and all the kids would beg to be a participant. I could play this game for 20 to 30 minutes at times. Just be sure to watch audience responses and quit while they still want more (as opposed to boring them and running the game into the ground).
