Wanna play Hockey without going to the hassle and cost of renting an ice skating rink? HereÕs how you can do it.
First, find a gym. Maybe you have a friend in ministry that is blessed with one at her church. Take her to lunchÉand then hit her up to borrow it! Finding a gym is a little tricky, but it is a lot easier than finding an ice skating rink! You might also try your local high school or middle school facilities.
Next, secure plenty of hockey equipment. Several pucks (or street balls), lots of hockey sticks, a couple of goals/nets, rollerblades (optional) and all the protective gear necessary, needs to be on your list. Have enough of each that backups are available. Also, make sure to have a few adult leaders, who know the rules of the game, on hand to referee the games.
With the popularity of hockey growing, this could be a great event for you to do at your next lock in. Make sure to advertise this well in advance. You can get a lot of guys who already play hockey to help you with the planning, and most importantly, the securing of equipment.
