It's as simple as it sounds … and it worked! Sports draw kids out that might not normally go to church.
This was done at the beach, but could be done at a park or anywhere. We challenged another youth group to a football game on Clearwater Beach. Both group of kids invited their friends (especially ones that could play ball) to stack their team so they could win. It was a lot of fun. We played football, beach volleyball, goofed off in the water and on the beach together & got sunburned together. Towards the end of the day, we had a short devotion that emphasized Jesus as Savior. My kids still talk about it.
In the end, our youth groups became very close and we each added to our youth groups many of the kids that we invited to play.
