Tied Up With Toilet Paper

Information: This discussion opener helps grab student's attention and helps students see how serious sin really is–how sin affects our lives.

Items Needed:

  • Bible

  • Several rolls of toilet paper (lots!)

Opening: T.P. Tie Up

The more T.P. you have for this opener the better it will be. Invite one of your students to come to the front of the room. Tell them they are going to be tied up. Have several other students join in with rolls of T. P. and wrap the T.P. around and around the first student. The student will believe that he/she will be able to get out of the T.P. Although, if you use enough it will be very difficult. (practice this one to see how much you should use)

Transition: Sin is like this, it ties us up and keeps us from doing what God wants us to do. At first it's very light and easy to break from so we don't think we're in danger. But as we get wrapped up in it deeper – we soon are caught. We can't get out by ourselves.

Text:
Romans 6:23 – For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift from God is eternal live through Christ Jesus our Lord.
