Rated R for strong bloody violence, pervasive language, some sexuality/nudity and drug use.
Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Joe Manganiello, Olivia Williams, Mireille Enos, Sam Worthington, Harold Perrineau, Max Martini, Josh Holloway, Terrence Howard and Martin Donovan
Directed by David Ayer (End of Watch, Harsh Times)
We’ve all been waiting for it, and finally we can say, “Arnold is back.”
In Sabotage, Arnold Schwarzengger leads an elite DEA task force that takes on the world’s deadliest drug cartels. When the team successfully executes a high-stakes raid on a cartel safe house, they think their work is done – until, one-by-one, the team members mysteriously start to be eliminated. As the body count rises, everyone is a suspect.
It has been over a decade since Arnold Schwarzengger has made a serious action film. No I’m not counting The Expendables and The Escape Plan was laughable. But he is back to his no nonsense action star ways in Sabotage. And he leads a great cast including Joe Manganiello, Sam Worthington, Max Martini, Josh Holloway and Terrence Howard. The only cast member that I really did not care for was Mireille Enos.
This is an action film and the action is nonstop and brutal throughout the two hour film. It’s a film that makes you cringe every time someone is shot – or something worse.
In the midst of all that violence, is a well-written story that includes revenge, greed, betrayal and loyalty.
Even though it is a well-written, action-packed cop/heist film, because of the violence and profanity (see below) I personally can’t score it higher then “skip it.”
SHOULD KIDS SEE IT?
That would be a definite no. There are over 200 F words, a bunch of other profanities and several sexual references. There are also a couple of scenes that involve nudity and the violence is brutally graphic.
CONVERSATION STARTER:
- Explain how John has found himself in such a perilous situation?
- What motivates him to steal the money?
- What motivates Lizzy?
- What are some things you can do to protect yourself from loving money?
Read 1 Timothy 6:10
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.
