Rush Hour 3(12/21/2007)

Rated PG-13 for sequences of action violence, sexual content, nudity and language.

Directed by Brett Ratner (Rush Hour 1 & 2…)

Starring: Chris Tucker, Jackie Chan…

Rush Hour 3 is probably what I’d expect from the proverbial third film in a series: not as good as the first, and more of the same ol’ thing.

Rush Hour 3 did offer a few entertaining scenes. The choreography for some of the fight sequences was good as always (we’re talking Jackie Chan here), and Chris Tucker has a few really funny moments. But overall, the film was predictable and shallow.

I’ve never been a fan of the director, Brett Ratner. His discernment is as shallow as his tact. When he remade the movie The Red Dragon back in 2002, he flapped his mouth about the previous film, bad talking director Michael Mann. Mann is in a completely different league than Ratner. When Ratner can create films like Michael Mann’s Heat, Ali, and Collateral, then he can start talking. (sorry- I had to rant a little)

If creative fight sequences and action is what you want, rent the first Rush Hour, The Transporter or even foreign film B-13. Just skip Rush Hour 3.

SHOULD KIDS SEE IT?
Nope. As fun as the action is, Chris Tucker consistently crosses the line with his joking. And several scenes go too far with sexual content.

Side Note:
As said above, we don’t recommend your kids see this film. But on the occasion that they actually have already seen it, you may want to dialogue about the film with them. These questions below may be a help to you.
