Rebound (12/20/2005)

Rated PG for mile language and thematic elements.

Directed by Steve Carr (Daddy Day Care, Dr. Dolittle 2…)
Starring Martin Lawrence, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Horatio Sanz, Megan Mullally…

Have ya seen Mighty Ducks? How about Bad News Bears? How about Keanu Reeves’ forgetful film Hardball, about a coach who agrees to coach a little league team? How about the 37 other films with the same premise?

Well then you’ve basically already seen Rebound.

Basically, Martin Lawrence is an acclaimed college basketball coach who is demoted to a junior varsity team after a public meltdown.

Is Rebound a bad film? No. But if you look up the word “cliché” in the dictionary … you’ll see the poster for this film illustrated in the margin!

You’ll giggle a little bit throughout the film. Your kids might even laugh a lot. And that’s noteworthy, a Martin Lawrence film that you can ACTUALLY show to your kids. (Very little language- a few “damns” and “My God”… and two very mild innuendo’s that kids won’t even catch.)

Don’t see it in the theatre. Rent it on half price day or if you’re really desperate for a halfway decent family film.
