Directed by William Dear
Starring Clifton Collins Jr., Cheech Marin, Jake Austin, Moises Arias…
Rated PG for some thematic elements.
The Perfect Game was a lot like going to a baseball game: slow, boring at times, some fun moments… hit and miss, but kind of fun for the family.
The film is based on a true story of a group of boys from Monterrey, Mexico who became the first non-U.S. team to win the Little League World Series.
I’ll be honest. The script needed work. But where I was a little picky, my kids weren’t. They seemed to be hanging with it.
The movie started very slow. As the story pieced together, it was actually a little confusing. But once the baseball team started to form, the storyline began moving along. A few of the cast (Cheech Marin and Lou Gossett Jr.) were really great. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case across the board.
The story was a little cliché and predictable. But when all was said and done, it was a clean, decent family film.
Nothing like Sandlot, and it won’t ever make it to my shelf some day, but definitely worth the rent.
SHOULD KIDS SEE IT:
Sure. Very clean
