Rated PG-13 for sequences of violence, intense action, sexual content and brief strong language.
Directed by Doug Liman (Swingers, The Bourne Identity…)
Starring Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Vince Vaughn…
This film was really two films in one: a really boring first hour, and a very exiting second hour.
The film grabbed me in the first minute with the When Harry Met Sally interview motif. But it dove downhill from that moment.
You probably saw the preview—the story is about a married couple (Pitt and Jolie) who are getting bored with their quiet domestic life. What they don't know, however, is that they're both assassins, secretly traveling the world and killing for hire. Their separate lives finally collide when each finds out their next target is their own spouse.
Miraculously, I stayed awake through the 1 hour mark. The first hour was merely a countdown to something greater in the second hour. At chapter 17, the film launches into a funny, creative script filled with some great action sequences. Unfortunately, they won’t make much sense unless you endured the painful first hour of the film.
SHOULD KIDS WATCH IT?
Nope. They’ll be bored anyway. Plus there’s too much eye candy, including the proverbial “PG-13 almost-no-nudity” sex scene.
Side Note:
As said above, we don’t recommend your kids see this film. But on the occasion that they actually have already seen it, you may want to dialogue about the film with them. These questions below may be a help to you.
