Michael Clayton (2/19/2008)

Rated R for language including some sexual dialogue.

Directed by Tony Gilroy (wrote the screenplay for Bourne Ultimatum, The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Identity and many more)

Starring George Clooney, Tom Wilkinson, Sydney Pollack, Michael O’Keefe

Michael Clayton has been nominated for several Academy Awards, and I’m not surprised. It was one of the better films of 2007.

In the spirit of The Firm or The Rainmaker, Michael Clayton grabs you with this intense story of an attorney known as the “fixer” at his law firm who comes across the biggest case of his career. The outcome could create devastating results for all involved.

Clooney was fantastic as always. But I have to give special recognition to Tilda Swinton for her Oscar nominated performance. She’s come a long way since The Chronicles of Narnia.

There wasn’t anything to NOT like about Michael Clayton. The performances were strong, the script was clever and kept me on the edge of my seat.

But I guess I’m not giving it my highest score simply because the film wasn’t one I’d watch again and again. So as good as Michael Clayton was, you probably won’t find it on my DVD shelf.

SHOULD KIDS SEE IT?
Not until it hits TV. The language is bad and there is sexual content (including a moment where Tom Wilkinson’s character graphically describes oral sex with a girl).

Side Note:
We don’t recommend your kids see this film. But on the occasion that they actually have already seen it, you may want to dialogue about the film with them. These questions below may be a help to you.
