Madagascar (11/15/2005)

Dreamworks animation does it again. By that I mean…about the same as Shark Tale, not Shrek.

Yes, the people that brought us the Shrek films and Shark Tale are at it again. And kids seem to be liking the film. Personally…it was “aight!” That’s all. It was no Finding Nemo, that’s for sure.

The storyline is this: Spoiled by their upbringing, with no idea what wild life is really like, four animals from New York Central Zoo escape in search of their friend and find themselves on route to Madagascar.

Your kids will like the film and you’ll laugh at a few scenes. (I was pretty amused by a Planet of the Apes reference.) And it has a catchy song that you might find yourself singing when you’re alone in the car. But other than that…you might just be looking at your watch wondering when it will be over.

SHOULD KIDS SEE IT?
Would you let your kids watch Shark Tale? If you don’t mind occasional gross humor, mild language and a few questions you might have to answer later…sure. But it’s truly PG, not G. Cartoons have come a long way since Bambi.
