Losers, The (7/20/2010)

Rated PG-13 for sequences of intense action and violence, a scene of sensuality and language.

Directed by Sylvain White (Ronin)

Starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Zoe Saldana and Chris Evans

The Losers is a big Winner!!

Members of an elite U.S. Special Forces unit are sent into the Bolivian jungle on a search and destroy mission. The team — Clay, Jensen, Roque, Pooch and Cougar — find themselves the target of a lethal betrayal instigated from inside by a powerful enemy known only as Max. Presumed dead, the group makes plans to even the score when they're joined by the mysterious Aisha, a beautiful operative with her own agenda. Working together, they must remain deep undercover while tracking the heavily-guarded Max, a ruthless man bent on embroiling the world in a new high-tech global war.

I know a lot of people are going to be surprised to see me give The Losers a Theater Worthy score. There’s intense action and violence, a PG-13 sex scene and language, not to mention the completely ridiculous story line. But I’m going to say it…”I loved this movie”.

Jeffrey Dean Morgan just might be one of the coolest actors in Hollywood. He was The Comedian in The Watchmen and although that film was far more graphic than this one, his character has the same “cool factor”. Director Sylvain White uses some very cool shots, like when the crew throws their dog tags in the fire, to make him look even cooler.

Chris Evans is total Chris Evans. Just like his Johnny Storm character in the Fantastic Four films, Jensen is the comic-relief. He has some great one-liners and laugh-out-loud moments.

When it comes to the story, the first thing you need to know is that The Losers is based on a comic book. So in order to really enjoy this one, you need to check your brain at the door…which I did. Otherwise you will drive yourself crazy with comments like, “Come on, did that entire army of soldiers miss everything but “The Losers” hit every target”.

And if you're wondering if there is a lot of violence, let me just say that everything and everyone either gets shot up, beat up or blown up. It was awesome!

If you love a fun, action-packed movie with some great comedic moments, definitely check out The Losers, it’s Theater Worthy.

SHOULD KIDS SEE IT?
There is a PG-13 sex scene that shows as much as they could and enough violence for two movies.
