Lockout (4/13/2012)

Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of violence and action, and language including some sexual references.

Starring Guy Pearce, Maggie Grace and Vincent Regan

Directed by James Mather and Stephen St. Leger

If you are looking for a mindless, futuristic, action movie…you just may like Lockout.

A man wrongly convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage against the U.S. is offered his freedom if he can rescue the president’s daughter from an outer space prison taken over by violent inmates. Yeah, it’s that simple and a bit familiar…ever heard of Escape from NY and Escape from LA?

OK here’s the deal, Lockout only comes one way…with extra cheese. Don’t believe me? There is actually a scene where someone tumbles through space, survives the burn of entering Earth’s atmosphere, opens a parachute and lands gently on the highway without even breathing heavy.

I’m sure Directors James Mather and Stephen St. Leger, had fun making this movie, but it’s really not worth your money. So watch it…but only if it’s free.

SHOULD KIDS SEE IT?
This one is a mild PG-13 movie. Meaning most of the reasons are for the action/violence and language (including some sexual references).

  1. In this movie, Snow finds himself in an interesting situation…he is unwillingly doing a good deed. Have you ever been “forced” into doing something “good”?

  2. The longer the movie goes, the more the mission becomes his mission. Did you experience that too? Why or why not?

  3. Sometimes we do things for God because they are forced onto us. But something amazing can happen when God’s mission becomes our mission.

  4. Read Matthew 5:16, “In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.”

  5. What does that verse tell us can happen if we do good deeds?

  6. What good deeds can you do this week?
