It Follows is a cheap and sexualized rip-off of The Ring.

For 19-year-old Jay (Maika Monroe), the fall should be about school, boys and weekends at the lake. Yet, after a seemingly innocent sexual encounter she suddenly finds herself plagued by nightmarish visions; she can’t shake the sensation that someone, or something, is following her. As the threat closes in, Jay and her friends must somehow escape the horrors that are only a few steps behind.

Do you remember 2002’s The Ring? That’s the horror movie where victims watch a video, the phone rings and a little girl tells the unlucky viewer they have seven days to lives. Well It Follows is a lot like that…except instead of getting the next victim to watch a video, the curse is passed through sexual intercourse. Yeah that’s the kind of garbage Hollywood is making.

The cast members are young attractive actors who need very little acting ability. There are just a lot of “walking,” running and screaming…oh and a lot of sex.

The irony (and biggest complaint) is that the filmmakers try to convince us that the two young men are actually doing the honorable thing when they have sex with Jay. It’s disturbing and wrong.

I didn’t think I was going to enjoy the film and it turns out I was right…it’s a “Coaster.”

SHOULD KIDS SEE IT?
No. There are several sex scenes and plenty of nudity. There is also a lot of gory images and profanity.
