I really like this surprisingly intense thriller.

Now that Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) and his girlfriend, Rose (Allison Williams), have reached the meet-the-parents milestone of dating, she invites him for a weekend getaway upstate with Missy (Catherine Keener) and Dean (Bradley Whitford). At first, Chris reads the family’s overly accommodating behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter’s interracial relationship, but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he could have never imagined.

I kept hearing people talking about the film Get Out, but it didn’t really interest me. So when my wife and I finally had a chance to check it out, I was kicking myself that it took so long.

First of all, the story is so well crafted and creepy that it causes this tension of not being about to look away and not wanting to watch. I felt the trailer had given away too much of the story and while I still feel that way, I will say there were still a few surprises.

Secondly, the cast is superb. I especially loved Keith Stanfield. His facial expressions are priceless and shows that he can carry a film. And I have to say that Bradley Whitford was really good. He literally made me so uneasy as I was watching it…which is exactly what the film maker wanted.

Speaking of the film maker, first time director Jordan Peele (of Key and Peele fame), really impressed me. He kept the pace moving and the intensity pretty high.

SHOULD KIDS SEE IT?
Although sex or nudity is never shown it is implied and discussed several times.

There are several violent scenes throughout the film.

There is also a lot of curses by a secondary character including the F-word and the S-word.
