Rated PG for some mild action and rude humor.
Directed by Hoyt Yeatman
Starring Bill Nighy, Will Arnett, and the voices of: Sam Rockwell, Jon Favreau, Nicholas Cage, Penelope Cruz, Steve Buscemi and Tracy Morgan
Jerry Bruckheimer, famed producer of films like National Treasure, Pirates of the Caribbean, Black Hawk Down and Remember the Titans also produced G-Force. I know I can’t believe it either.
This is Bruckheimer’s first 3-D film; a comedy adventure about the latest evolution of a covert government program to train animals to work in espionage. Armed with the latest high-tech spy equipment, these highly trained guinea pigs discover that the fate of the world is in their paws. Tapped for the G-Force are guinea pigs: Darwin (Sam Rockwell), the squad leader determined to succeed at all costs; Blaster (Tracy Morgan), an outrageous weapons expert with tons of attitude and a love for all things extreme; and Juarez (Penelope Cruz) a sassy martial arts pro; plus the literal fly-on-the-wall reconnaissance expert, Mooch, and a star-nosed mole, Speckles (Nicholas Cage), the computer and information specialist. Along the way, the G-Force encounters myriad other members of the animal kingdom, including pet shop layabout Hurley (Jon Favreau) and the rabidly territorial hamster Bucky (Steve Buscemi).
I can't tell you of how many times I've finished watching a movie and realized I had seen every funny scene in the trailer. Yep – if you've seen the trailer for G-Force, you've seen everything that has the potential to make you laugh. And by the way…”Poop in his hand! Poop in his hand!” that’s the funniest scene.
That being said, there are a few moments when you can audibly hear the audience “ahhh” – mostly because they are in fact talking guinea pigs, and the message of the importance of family and friends was refreshing.
I actually wish I had more positive things to say…but that’s it so I’m going with an “Only If Free.”
SHOULD KIDS SEE IT?
G-Force is loaded with the typical fart jokes. Other than that it’s ok for kids.
