Fun with Dick and Jane (04/11/06)

Rated PG-13 for brief language, some sexual humor and occasional humorous drug references

Directed by Dan Parisot (Galaxy Quest…)

Starring Jim Carrey, Tea Leoni, Alec Baldwin…

“Fun” is an overstatement.

Yes, Jim Carrey has some funny moments. Yes, Tea Leoni pulls her own weight. But I’ll give you 5 other Jim Carrey films that trump this one easily (Lemony Snicket’s, Bruce Almighty, The Grinch, Liar Liar, Dumb and Dumber) and maybe even 5 other Tea Leoni films (right off I think of Spanglish, Deep Impact, Family Man… and yes, even Jurassic Park III)

Fun with Dick and Jane was more “Frustrated” with Dick and Jane. The movie is one of those downers where everything goes wrong. These films work if there is enough humor to carry the film. Sorry, not in this one. The funniest scene is the one you’ve seen in the preview.

I tolerated this film…even giggled a few times. If you want to see it, make sure it’s with a free coupon, and come in with low expectations.

SHOULD KIDS SEE IT?
Probably not… it would just bore kids. It wouldn’t be too bad for teenagers. But there is a little language including one major drop of the “f” bomb, and there are a few sexual innuendo’s scattered throughout.
