Rated PG-13 for some teen drug and alcohol use, sexual content, violence and language.
Directed by Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow)
Starring Kenny Wormald, Julianne Hough, Dennis Quaid, Andi MacDowell…
This is going to be the shortest movie review I’ve written in our website history. Not because there’s nothing to write about… the complete opposite, in fact.
When I first saw this movie I thought, “I’ve got to talk with parents about this film.” After all, parents are always looking for ways to get their teenagers talking about real life. This film offers a perfect springboard to authentic conversation.
I began writing, and the result is a Youth Culture Window article that we are featuring the week of this movie’s release to BluRay and DVD.
So jump on our Youth Culture Window page and read that article HERE.
SHOULD KIDS SEE IT?
This is the perfect film for parents to watch with their kids and discuss it afterwards. See my Youth Culture Window article about using this film to get your teenagers talking. In that article I provide questions you can use.
Should little kids see it? No. And personally, I wouldn’t even want my younger tweens and teens seeing it without me.
Typical PG-13 language. Several uses of “s—t,” and others, and some casual sex talk.
Risqué dancing in a couple scenes, No nudity or sex, but sex is implied, a girl later tells her dad she isn’t a virgin.
