New mixers page on our web site. Now eight different game pages, fit for every occasion! |
We’ve got a whole new page on our web site!
Ever looking for a "mixer" that gets students walking around, mingling with other students . . . the type of game/activity that you can use on a Sunday morning without having to pull out the dodgeballs or a tarp & chocolate syrup?
Well check out our new MIXERS page found on The Source’s GAMES & ICEBREAKERS page: https://thesource4ym.com/games/
Different formats call for different types of games/activities, don’t they? Check out the next article in this EZINE where Jonathan clarifies these differences and shows you where to find them!

Imagine an audience of 300 sitting at a program, waiting to hear the message. The youth leader walks on stage and says, "Everyone get in a circle for a game!"
Chaos ensues!
I’m guessing that’s not a good idea . . . not if you want them sitting in their seats again 3 minutes later worshiping or listening to a message. So does a type of game exist that is strictly for "audiences?"
Glad you asked!
Yes. Different formats require different activities or games. That’s why THE SOURCE’s free games page uniquely has 8 different games pages, something for every occasion. Here’s a summary of each type of game and what you can use it for!
MIXERS – These are perfect when you want students mingling and walking around the room doing something fun.
UP FRONT GAMES – These are fun "contests" or "activities" done on stage while the audience is watching. Many youth groups who don’t play your proverbial "games" every week, like this kind of up front entertainment.
- NOTE: There are ways to do and "not do" these types of games. Jonathan spends a whole chapter devoted to this kind of programming in his book: https://thesource4ym.comhttp://www.jonathansresources.com/Books/default.aspx
ANYWHERE GAMES – This page that used to be the "Small Room" games page, is the largest game page on our web site. It has games that can be played anywhere. We changed the name because you can still play these games in a big room.
SICK AND TWISTED GAMES – This is a page for those who don’t mind making a mess. Some of these games are pretty gross . . . but a lot of kids like it.
AUDIENCE GAMES – This page, once called our "Crowd Games" page, is specifically games or activities that an audience can play, without really disrupting the format they’re sitting in. (Great for Sunday mornings or big programs!)
OUTDOOR GAMES – This page is devoted to outdoor activities, water activities . . . stuff you can’t do inside.
SWIMMING POOL GAMES – Do I really have to tell you what this page is for?
All these games pages can be found on The Source’s GAMES & ICEBREAKERS page: https://thesource4ym.com/games/
That’s it. A glimpse of the uniquely laid out FREE game ideas at THE SOURCE. We’re glad to be a resource to your ministry, and a small part of what God is doing in the lives of youth across the world!
