Doomsday (7/29/2008)

Rated R for strong bloody violence, language and some sexual content/nudity.

Starring Rhona Mitra, Bob Hoskins, Alexander Siddig, Adrian Lester, Sean Pertwee, Darren Morfitt, Emma Cleasby, Chris Robson, MyAnna Buring, Nora-Jane Noone, Leslie Simpson, Craig Conway, Malcolm McDowell

Excessive and gratuitous.

Doomsday is an action-packed thriller about what happens to Scotland when authorities brutally quarantine the entire country after a virus breakout. The literal walling-off works for three decades – until the dreaded Reaper Virus resurfaces in London. An elite group of specialists, captained by Eden Sinclair (Rhona Mitra), is sent over the wall to retrieve a cure by any means necessary. Shut off from the rest of the world, the unit must battle through what has become a total nightmare.

I’m not going to waste your time on this one. Doomsday is one of the most violent and graphic movies I have seen…ever. From beginning to end there is killing, violence and total carnage. To give you an idea of how far Doomsday goes, in one scene a soldier is literally cooked alive and then his body is ripped apart and feasted on by the savage survivors.

With no redeemable qualities, I can easily say use it as a “Coaster.”

SHOULD KIDS SEE IT?
