Catch That Kid (6/1/2004)

Rated PG

Directed by Bart Freundlich

Starring Kristen Stewart and Jennifer Beals

A twelve-year old girl with the help of two friends robs a bank with a recently installed state of the art security system. This is, of course, for a good cause- an operation for her dying father. And in the end, everything turns out okay because . . . there are no consequences for behavior, right?

Catch that kid is yet another attempt at the action kids film trying to be the next Spy Kids. Clever? In parts. Spy kids? . . . it’s not.

Should Kids See It?
Most kids won’t notice the “cheese factor” in the film, and they might actually be entertained with some of the action. And the film is pretty clean. Mild language, no sex or nudity, just a stupid scene where a woman is sitting on a man’s lap, apparently trying to seduce him.

But the thing to consider is the message of this film. Adults are dumb, kids are smart. And there are no consequences to our actions.
