Milo Boyd (Gerard Butler), a down-on-his-luck bounty hunter, gets his dream job when he is assigned to track down his bail-jumping ex-wife, reporter Nicole Hurly (Jennifer Aniston). He thinks all that's ahead is an easy payday, but when Nicole gives him the slip so she can chase a lead on a murder cover-up, Milo realizes that nothing ever goes simply with him and Nicole. The exes continually one-up each other — until they find themselves on the run for their lives. They thought their promise to love, honor and obey was tough — staying alive is going to be a whole lot tougher.
I’ll admit I was pretty disappointed when I started hearing how lame this movie was. I don’t mind admitting that I’m a fan of both Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler. So I went into this one with some fear and trepidation…but I really enjoyed The Bounty Hunter.
With films like Sweet Home Alabama, Fools Gold and Hitch, Andy Tennant knows a thing or two about making a great date night movie. The whole premise about a bounty hunter assigned to track down his bail-jumping ex-wife was fun and fresh, but don’t worry, there are still plenty of romantic comedy cliché’s thrown in throughout the film.
Jennifer Aniston and Gerard Butler are fantastic as the estranged couple who tease each other and fight just enough to make us laugh without feeling bad for either character. As silly as it sounds, I found myself cheering for them as a couple and hoping they would get back together.
It didn’t blaze any trails but it entertained me for almost two hours. I enjoyed it enough to give it a Rental.
SHOULD KIDS SEE IT?
The violence is minimal and more slapstick than disturbing. The conversations are more mature and deserve the PG-13 rating.
