It’s Finally Here
The Source’s new web site with a custom game search area, Jonathan’s Blog and more!
It’s finally here! Maybe you liked the old yellow, orange and black colors … sorry – they’re history! The new look is here and it comes with some new features you’re going to love:
1. CUSTOM GAME SEARCH: Some people use games every week in their ministry. Others use attention getters on stage to break the ice. Regardless of your personal preference, you’re going to love our new custom game/ice-breaker search area.
Many of you probably noticed that I organize my games a little different than others. I don’t just have one page with a bunch of games. Instead, I’ve divided games and ice-breakers into multiple categories that youth workers can easily identify with.
We all know that it’s much different finding games for 10 kids in a living room than for 200 kids in a gym. And some youth workers don’t even like to use games, but they love activities or attention getters with people on stage in front of the group. That’s why I’ve always provided different categories such as ANYWHERE GAMES (what I used to call SMALL FACILITY GAMES, but you can play them anywhere), BIG FACILITY GAMES and even AUDIENCE GAMES (when you don’t want to break up your crowd).
Well, our new page has even more options. We haven’t killed our old layout, because “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” We still have the same eight categories, but now you can even get more specific. In our custom search area, you can now narrow your search using up to seven different criteria:
- Number of Players
- Preparation Time
- Messy Factor
- Game Type (Upfront Game, Audience Game, Sick Games, our new Games With a Point, etc.)
- Supplies Needed
- Game Length
- Game Location (Outdoor, Class Room, Living Room, even Bus! and more …)
We’ve been working out some of the bugs for 3 weeks now … it should be ready for you.
2. PRINT PAGE FEATURE: Many of you are also going to love our new PRINT PAGE feature. A simple button you can click if you want to print our resources, agendas, discussion questions, that new custom game list, etc. (about time, huh!)
3. JONATHAN’S BLOG: Also enjoy our new JONATHAN’S BLOG section. I’ll be regularly updating the blog on my front page so you’ll get the latest from my cranium!
There’s more coming, including a search engine for the whole site, new pages, new curriculum, and over 100 new teen lingo terms just around the corner. So enjoy the new look and feel on our site! It’s our ministry to you.
Something You Can Use This Week |
Golf Phwack
This is a great activity to kill time at the beginning of an event- it can be done indoor or outdoors … although it works best with a good amount of space. All you need is a golf club (a 7 or 9 iron might be easier for some than a driver). The same as driving a regular golf ball, the only difference is … you use marshmallows. See who can hit them the furthest distance.

String Web: A great small group starter
Get a spool of string or yarn. Have each person answer a question of some sort when they have the string in their possession. They then hold on to the string and throw the ball/spool to another so they can answer the question. You eventually create a web of some sort. In the end, describe how the web is analogous to the group in that we all play a part in creating the web, and that if one person was gone it would look different. Likewise, it is important that we all take part to make the group what it is, unique and special.
We suggest typing up your predetermined questions ahead of time. You can find some great ideas for questions or discussion-starting-statements on the Koosh page: CLICK HERE
