2004 ENTRIES AND WINNERS

The Source for Youth Ministry put on a contest for all youth workers, volunteer or paid, to reward them for driving a hideous heap!

All entries were due on April 15, 2004. The Youth Specialties staff picked a first, second and third place, and a few honorable mentions. Let’s take a look at this year’s winners . . .

1st Place Winner

SAM WALKER
Youth and Families Minister. For $100 we bought this poor car, scrubbed off the slurry that had been dropped on it from a forest fire, set off 3 bugbombs to kill the black widow infestation. It is moldy, the ceiling crumbles down on you, it tends to due 25 mph, and the youth group uses it as a skate ramp.

2nd Place Winner

RYAN JONES
Full-time Youth Ministry Director, Our Savior Lutheran, Excelsior, MN. Meet Neuman….a 1965 US Postal Jeep. He’s powder blue and orange (rust), has a right-hand steering column, no passenger or rear seats, and is currently missing a muffler. Fortunately, Neuman’s max speed is 58 mph, so no worries about speeding. Will be perfect when youth ministry forces me to “go postal.”

3rd Place Winner

RICK NIER
Rick Nier, Youth Pastor, Winona Lake, Indiana. The stripe is falling off again, multiple rust spots, major windshield crack, interior ceiling falling again (wife stapled it a few years ago), mysterious stinky smell coming through vents, muffler is only decoration, transmission slips, ignition only works with much prayer, and it overheats and stalls when temperature outside is above 50 degrees.

Jonathan’s “Understanding & Reaching The Unchurched” Training on both coasts!
