Campus Ministry

Always Have An Answer…

I was talking with a local principle at lunch and a parent from the community approached us both. She saw me…knew I wasn’t a teacher and asked me directly, “What are you doing here?”

I froze, not sure how to answer and not sure if she was a friend or foe.  It seemed like minutes ticked by as I tried to explain what I did and why I was there – it was at that moment that the Principle boldly stepped in, “Rob’s here to tell kids about Jesus, get them saved, and then baptize them in our pool…that’s what he’s doing here!”  He then turned his back to the woman and we continued our conversation.  I was speechless – and apologetically said something like, “You know that’s not really what I do here…”.  He just looked at me and smiled.

I interpreted that to mean, “I know who you are, and why you come…and I’m okay with it.”  Of course we offer ourselves as resources to the school, naturally we’re there to serve in any way the school requires – but I was reminded that our ultimate purpose is to be Jesus’ hands and feet – connecting lost and lonely kids to the Savior.
