Sabre Ball

sabre-ball

Preparation: You are going to need two goals that are across from each other. If you don’t have any goals, hula hoops on the ground or buckets will work. Next, grab any soccer-sized ball. You will also need pool noodles (sabres) and these will be given to about half of the players on each team.

The gameplay is simple and the goal is to score goals for your team. You may kick, throw, head, or pass the ball. However, the only ways to change possession of the ball are via interception or tagging someone with a “sabre”. You cannot hold a sabre AND the ball at the same time. So, if you are in possession of a ball and you are whacked by a sabre you must drop the ball. The person who whacked you must drop their sabre and grab the ball. Gameplay resumes after the two players trade items.

The game moves fast, so at the end of each goal make sure that the sabres are distributed evenly again between the teams.
