Rations Roulette

rations-roulette

This upfront game is a little gross. It is a cross between Musical Chairs and Fear Factor. Bring up 8 chairs onto the stage and choose 8 students from the crowd. The chairs need to be in a straight line, all facing the crowd. Have students sit in the chairs facing the crowd. Hand one of the students a jar of some sort of gross baby food, a can of sardines, or canned octopus…anything gross. Explain that when the music starts, the students must pass the gross food product down the line. When the gross food gets to the last seated student, he/she must run around to the other end of the line of chairs. As he/she is running, the other 7 students have slid down 1 chair to fill in the empty seat. He/she then takes a seat on the empty chair, and hands the gross food to the next participant. When the music stops, whoever is holding the gross food has to eat it all, or take a bite of it, depending on what you have picked.

You do not eliminate the players in this game, though! You just make them swallow the gross food, and keep playing. After 2 or 3 rounds, increase the gross factor with even grosser foods AND more of them. For instance, instead of just 1 gross food container, have 3 cans/jars being passed around.

Things to Remember:

    • Make sure you have a sound system that can be heard over the crowd.
    • Make sure you have plenty of plastic spoons so everyone playing (that needs one) has a fresh, clean one to use.
    • It is best to NOT use metal folding chairs. This guard against pinching and collapsing during the game.
    • Finally, a great dynamic is to continually, seriously increase the grossness of the foods you choose. Make a big deal over how weird/gross it is. The crowd loves it!
