Something You Can Use This Week: More Christmas Ideas

Looking for some Christmas ideas?
You’ve come to the right place!

Well, it’s that time of year again. Break out the incredibly fashionable sweater your Aunt Agnus knitted you, pull another candy cane off the tree, and get ready to offer your students a great Christmas season. We have some great resources to help you make the most of this special season. We have ideas for fun and ideas to help your group grow. Take a peek:

Jump on our web site www.TheSource4YM.com, scroll your mouse to the top blue drop down menu where it says FREE RESOURCES & IDEAS, then click where it says HOLIDAY IDEAS. That page lists a bunch of the free resources and ideas we provide by topic. Once on that page, look where it says “CHRISTMAS” and check out some of the ideas linked on our web site. You’ll see anything from a “Christmas Light Project” to games like “Christmas 12 bags of Doom.” You’ll even see video clip discussion ideas and full program agendas like “Christmas-Keeping it Real.”

A FEW HIGHLIGHTS:

Here’s one of the new games on that page that we just added last week:

Gingerbread Face
This is best played as an Up Front game, so make sure everyone in the room can see what’s going on!

Teams are made up of 3 girls and 1 guy, or the other way around (we don’t want to be sexist). One student lies down on their back (with their head closest to the crowd) and the other 3 students prepare to build.

The object of the game is to build a gingerbread house on the student’s face (sides of the house on their cheeks, other sides on their chin and the bridge of their nose, and a roof).

The face must first be smeared with frosting so that the crackers will stick well as the goal is for the person to stand up and not have the house fall off their face.

Once the house walls are in place on their face, the team adds a completely closed roof. After the building has 4 walls and a roof, the team then decorates the house. (Teams can use as much icing as necessary to make the house stable.) Once it is completed the person with the house on their face stands up…and the house that doesn’t fall off, wins!

Variable: You can also play this game by setting a time limit of 5 minutes and then letting the crowd judge which gingerbread house is best.

And if you missed the talk/discussion starter that we provided last week (with small group questions, scripture questions, etc.)…

Christmas Unnoticed
Unrecognized and Ignored

Main Point: Don’t let Jesus go unnoticed this Christmas.

It was Friday morning, January 12th, in the middle of the morning rush at the DC Metro. As over a 1,000 people passed by, a young white man in jeans and baseball cap pulled a violin out of its case, threw a few dollars down as seed money, and began to play.

A rich sound filled the Metro plaza, an elegant and pure melody that these walls had never heard before. An occasional passerby dropped a few coins in the case, but for the most part, the musician was ignored.

1097 people passed by that morning. The violin case managed to collect a mere $32 and change in donations.

Who was this unrecognized brilliant young musician?

“No one knew it, but the fiddler standing against a bare wall outside The Metro in an indoor arcade at the top of the escalators was one of the finest classical musicians in the world, playing some of the most elegant music ever written on one of the most valuable violins ever made.”

And if you’re looking for a discussion with scripture and a wrap up, try any of these great Christmas MOVIE CLIP DISCUSSIONS:
