There?s a brand new reason to love The Source for Youth Ministry: after months of hard work, we just launched our brand new TRAINING TOOLS page! Under our re-formatted ARTICLES & FREE TRAINING navigation bar (the blue buttons at the top of our web page) you?ll find a resource entitled FREE TRAINING TOOLS.

We have two categories of totally free training resources for you. The first is HELP ME, a collection of training tools and articles that will provide you with applicable training to sharpen your knowledge and skills. The second is called HELP MY LEADERS, and will supply you with relevant training resources with which to equip your volunteers. This set of resources includes a professional PowerPoint slideshow, training script, group activity, and feedback questions that will allow you to train your leaders on various topics.

Now you don’t have to pay for the best training in youth ministry. It’s yours.

Cell Phones?Don?t Leave Home Without It
Every parent and youth worker knows the love affair teens have with their cell phones. CTIA and Harris Interactive interviewed kids about their use of cell phones and uncovered some strong feelings teens have for their mobile devices. Brenna, a 17 year old, said, ?Leaving home without my phone almost feels like leaving the house naked.?

And that?s just ?regular? cell phones?not the iPhone.

The iPhone is one of the most sought after gadgets in the world. According to information provided by Appleinsider, only 15% of the teenagers they surveyed owned an iPhone, but 22% of those who didn?t own one, planned to purchase one in the next six months. iPhones are such a hit with kids that when they came out, a majority of teenagers said owning an iPhone was more impressive to their friends than owning a car.

The iPhone is so much more than just a cell phone or a smartphone; it?s a pocket-sized Mecca of entertainment.

But not all of that entertainment is good for teens. Last year Time Magazine referred to the iPhone as ?increasingly the source of forbidden fruit.? Even if parents took steps to monitor web browsing on these portable toys? kids have found other means of sexy entertainment. That is probably why this year the amount of ?sexy iPhone apps? are increasing?

Miley in ‘Sex and the City: The Movie’ Sequel

I’m through sharing my two cents about Miley- I’ll just report the facts. Last time that I defended her, she showed up the next day at the Teen Choice Awards… uh… well… just click here if you don’t know.

And now, Miley seems to have made another “interesting” decision, the decision to cameo in the sequel to Sex in the City: The Movie (The MPAA gave the first movie an ‘R’ rating “for strong sexual content, graphic nudity and language”)

Let me back up. Back in 2008 Miley shared with her fans (dare I remind you- girls aged between 6 and 14) that her favorite TV show is HBO’s Sex and the City and she wished that her own Disney kids show could be more like it.

Last month, rumors began surfacing that Miley might show up in a cameo in the Sex and the City: The Movie sequel?

This movie is not only about a guy who really loves horses?a lot; it also provides us with a great picture of the salvation Jesus has made available to us!
