HOW TO ENTER:
It’s simple:

  2. Write a paragraph of 60 words or less informing us of the following:

      A. What you do in youth ministry (ie: I’m a volunteer Sunday School teacher, I’m a youth pastor …)

      B. Where you do ministry (ie: at First Baptist Church in Collinsville, IL)

      C. A description of your vehicle, explaining why it is a heap

  3. E-mail us your name, phone #, your 60 words or less paragraph and picture at contest@TheSource4YM.com … and did I mention NO MORE THAN 60 WORDS!!! (hint: use Microsoft WORD, highlight your text, click TOOLS, then click “word count”)

CONTEST GUIDELINES:
  1. You must be a youth worker, volunteer or paid to enter this contest.

  2. All entries must be in by midnight, California time, on April 15, 2005

  3. Entries may come from any country. 1st place prizes take place only in the US, but are transferable to your U.S. youth worker friends. 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and honorable mention prizes will be awarded to youth workers anywhere in the world … even Oklahoma!

  4. Winners will be announced in THE SOURCE newsletter on April 19th, 2005.

Thanks for your work for the kingdom! Keep up the good work!

Something You Can Use: Usher’s Video “Confessions Part II”

Are You Using What Kids Are Watching?

Good illustrations or discussion starters often exist in films, television and music videos that kids are already watching. Although we have to be careful using this medium (because a lot of it contains garbage), we don’t want to ignore it completely. We might be able to jumpstart a message or small group discussion off a point that a popular artist is already preaching to our kids.

Usher is one of the biggest names in music right now. His hit album Confessions has stayed on top of the charts for months. His music video for the song titled Confessions Part II has also become a big hit. The song deals with a man’s struggle with confessing to his girlfriend that he has cheated on her, conceiving a child with another woman. He concludes that he needs to make things right and confess everything.

Our friend Walt Mueller over at www.CPYU.org just did a great review of this video with some tips of how you can use this for a discussion.
